High School Course Guide

Blue Valley high schools are designed to support students through the critical stage of adolescence as they prepare for life beyond graduation. We are committed to partnering with families to guide students through these important years of academic and personal development. The high school experience centers on two key goals—achieving academic excellence and fostering individual growth. A comprehensive curriculum and supportive structures ensure readiness for college, careers, and responsible citizenship in a dynamic, technology-driven world.

Blue Valley high schools are built on educational principles that reflect the developmental needs of adolescents and the expectations of a rapidly changing world:

  • Curriculum is aligned with rigorous Kansas State College and Career Readiness Standards.
  • Instruction emphasizes what students should know and be able to do to succeed after high school.
  • Schools offer a safe, inclusive environment that fosters strong relationships and a sense of belonging.
  • Families and the community play an active role in supporting student learning and growth.
  • Teaching practices reflect current, research-based educational strategies.

Families are encouraged to stay engaged as active partners throughout the high school journey—enriching the experience for students and the broader school community.

The High School Experience

The Blue Valley high school program is designed to meet the complex developmental needs of adolescents, addressing their physical, intellectual, emotional, ethical and social growth.

High school students in Blue Valley have access to a wide range of elective courses that expand their skills and interests, including practical lifetime skills and opportunities for deeper self-discovery.

Students engage in learning experiences that connect ideas across subjects, making education more relevant and meaningful. They develop problem-solving abilities by applying knowledge from multiple disciplines, emphasizing real-world applications.
